US History
This class is an exploration into the birth and development of America with special focus
on the geography, economy, government, military, foreign affairs and the people who
helped to shape the new nation. The class will begin with a look at Colonial America and the events that lead to revolution and independence from England. Students will examine the United States Constitution and the major debates that helped to shape the young Republic. Students will study Westward Expansion and the affects it had on Native Americans, the land and other nations. We will look at the causes and main events that lead to the American Civil War. Students will study the complex issues connected to American Reconstruction. Students will comprehend the economic and social factors that contribute to American Industrialization. Finally students will be asked to study the major concepts of Democracy.

- 1st 6 weeks: Unit 1, Chapter 1-3 Exploration & Colonization and Unit 2, chapter 3 The Road to Revolution
- 2nd 6 weeks: Unit 3, Chapter 4 The American Revolution and Unit 4, Chapters 5-6 The Constitution
- 3rd 6 weeks: Unit 5, Chapters 6-7 The Early Years of the Republic and Unit 6, Chapter 8 The Jefferson Era
- 4th 6 weeks: Unit 7, Chapter 9 Unity & Sectionalism and Unit 8, Chapter 10 The Age of Jackson
- 5th 6 weeks: Unit 9, Chapter 11-14 The Age of Reform and Unit 10, Chapter 12-13,15 The North & South
- 6th 6 weeks: Unit 11, Chapter 16 The Civil War and Unit 12, Chapter 17 Reconstruction

- 1st Offense: Verbal Warning
- 2nd Offense: Sign the Discipline Book
- 3rd Offense: Discipline Essay
- 4th Offense: Lunch Detention and Call to Parents
- 5th Offense: Principal’s Office
- Daily Grades: 25%
- Behavior & Participation: 25%
- Test Grades: 50%
- No extra credit will be offered.
- Bonus Points will be included on all chapter tests.
- Late work: 10 points off every day the assignment is late.
